Like a night-time fairytale, hallucinated verses accompanied by a digital orchestra painting a lucid dream. Okulstacio inaugurates Riforma's new series 'Liminal Fields', out of time slanted music.
Released on cassette followed by a pamphlet with photos, lyrics and scores of side A + A4 poster showing the spectrogram of B Side piano solo.
The words of Albanian poet Jonida Prifti, taken from the participatory book 'Stazione degli occhi' (Camminamenti 2021), float through the twenty minutes of side A. Sometimes becoming just oracular sound or turning in a mumble song or, suddendly, arising as a rant.
Forcing the sshhh and the pssss of the voice in the mic Jonida hissing and whispering a blurred but microdetailed landscape.
The poem has its perfect juxtaposition on side B (available only as bonus track or on tape), where Jonida abandons herself to the grand piano, in a haunting and dazed minimalist flux.
Okulstacio, the Esperanto translation of 'Eye Station', is set to classical midi music by Maestro Stefano di Trapani, who experimented with a bizarre way of composing, through pressings, long pauses, steep overlaps, dissonances. An unprecedented form founded by Acchiappashpirt sound poetry duo, where the noise incursions and more extreme manipulations give way to an almost crystalline narrative, however restless and perturbing.
